Before heading to a mall, check out their website. Often times they have printable coupons for a certain dollar amount or percentage off of your purchase at a particular store. Or they will alert you to special sales.
If you like Lord & Taylor even half as much as I do, sign up for their mail or email service. You can get in-store and online coupons sent directly to you. Never shop at Lord & Taylor without a coupon and don't ever pay full price. Everything gets discounted eventually.
If you are steering clear of the mall and would prefer to do all your shopping online, hunt for coupon or promo codes. Look for them by doing a simple search on Google or head on over to deal sites like Retail Me Not. Don't forget to follow your favorite stores on social media like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. They'll often share whisper codes or special deals through those networks.
Stretch that dollar by making your purchases reward you. I've been a member MyPoints since 1998. I shop through their affiliate links and get points per dollar depending on the merchant. Accumulate enough points and you can get gift cards for lots of great places. Also, get a credit card that rewards you airline miles or some other rewards. Use it for purchases you can pay off quickly and use wisely.
Join a loyalty program. I like the one the shoe retailer DSW has. I use my DSW Rewards cards for purchases in-store and online. I get $5 or $10 coupons which I can apply to future purchases.
Happy Shopping!
